Today we’re recognising European Carers Day. This year’s theme, “Informal care doesn’t follow a schedule,” highlights a simple truth: caring responsibilities can change at any moment. Appointments move, emergencies arise, and support is needed at unpredictable times. Yet many carers still face rigid systems that don’t reflect the reality of their daily lives.
Eurocarers is calling for greater flexibility in workplaces, services, and policies so carers can continue providing essential support without sacrificing their own stability, health, or independence. Flexible hours, understanding employers, and adaptable care services make a real difference.
